Hoping to address the scarce supply of oxygen in the province, Benguet caretaker Eric Go Yap launched the free oxygen tank refiling program at the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH).
Yap on Tuesday delivered 100 oxygen tanks to BeGH to augment the hospital’s need while promising to supplement oxygen tanks in other district hospitals.
The solon added the 100 oxygen tanks will be refilled weekly although it is not enough as BeGH needs 260 everyday.
“Sana itong 100 tanks per week natin e makabawas kahit papano sa pangangailangan ng Benguet Gen pero meron pa akong pina order na 500 tanks. Pahirapan kasi ngayon, pero pag dumating yung second batch na 100 na tanks, yun naman dadalahin natin na tig 20 na tangke sa mga district hospital kasi sa Buguias, sa Kapangan e nagparamdam na sa atin yung mga hospital dun na kailangan talaga nila ng tulong. Kahit yung tig 20 weekly eh malaking bagay na daw sa kanila yun,” Yap said.
Yap said he already asked private oxygen tanks to deliver 100 tanks weekly for BeGH while another 100 tanks that will arrive next week and will be distributed to the five district hospitals with Buguias and Kapangan as priority due to high demand of ventilators.
Each district hospitals will get 20 tanks each as Yap assures these will also be refilled on a weekly basis.
“Hopefully madagdagan yung 100 maging 200 weekly, hangang maabot nating yung 500 weekly na marerefill natin sa Benguet Gen upang sa ganun matulungan yung mga kababayna natin dito na nangangailangan ng oxygen,” Yap quipped.
Yap is optimistic the much-needed oxygen tanks at BeGH and other district hospitals in the province will be enough once supply normalize. SCORE
